Sauté the onion and garlic in the oil over medium-high heat, adding a pinch of salt.
Once they are translucent and starting to brown a little, add the tomato paste, pepper, thyme, and a little amount of water. Stir for a while, and then add the pasta.
Serve on a plate, and then add the eggplant mixture.
Garnish with basil leaves.
