Heat 2 tbsps. of the oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat and add the garlic. Cook briefly without browning. Add salt, pepper and oregano.
Add shrimp and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add broth or boiling water, and then, let the mixture boil.
Add linguini and basil to the mixture. Heat thoroughly. Toss well and serve immediately.
